A Non-Signalized Junction Model for Agent-Based Simulations of Car–Pedestrian Mode Mass Evacuations

During major disasters, such as a subduction earthquake and the associated tsunami, combinations of uncommon conditions non-functioning traffic signals, large number pedestrians on lanes, debris scattered roads can be widespread. It is vital to take these into account since they significantly influence evacuation progress. Agent-Based Models (ABMs) with capabilities reproduce evacuees’ behaviors emergent phenomena promising method simulate rare conditions. This paper presents new model cover current research gap in accurately modeling car–car car–pedestrian interactions at non-signalized junctions. Specifically, details approximating car trajectories junctions automated construction, free-flow speed cars along curved trajectories, calculating points collision time are presented. As demonstrative application, we simulated hypothetical scenario signals which different numbers slow evacuees allowed use cars. While ABM yet thoroughly validated, presented scenarios indicates that considerable needy for if their routes start window well planned.
